Food for Thought

When I was a young child, my parents found it extremely difficult to get me to eat anything that even remotely resembled a vegetable. I loved hot dogs and hamburgers and junk food, like most young children. I didn’t like carrots, and really disliked broccoli. Then, when I was nine years old, I was taken on a tour of a slaughterhouse in the Philippines. I was shocked to see a half-dead cow being hung from the rafters by a big hook, slowly bleeding to death, being kept alive as long as possible so as to keep the meat fresher for longer. I was sickened by the suffering of this animal. At nine years of age, all I could think was, “Is this what animals go through, just so I can eat them?” The reality I saw in the slaughterhouse didn’t match the hamburger commercials I’d seen on TV, where cows were happy and chickens danced around huge farms.

At such a young age, I didn’t know there was such a thing as a vegetarian. I certainly didn’t know there was a whole philosophy behind vegetarianism. But instinctively, I just felt it was wrong to take another life so I could eat. I had never before made the connection between live animals and the meat on my dinner plate. My young mind thought that if there was an alternative to killing the animals I saw in the slaughterhouse, then I would rather take that alternative. I haven’t eaten meat since then.
Being a vegetarian is a matter of choice. And there are many reasons behind why people make the choice to become vegetarian. Of course, some of these reasons are health-related. A properly balanced vegetarian diet is healthy and beneficial to the human body. Also, scientifically, the physical make-up of humans is not designed to be carnivorous. If you look at the anatomy and function of herbivores in the animal kingdom, their intestines are very long, like humans, meaning they’re not able to fully digest meat, which rots very fast in the intestines. Vegetarian animals, like cows, water buffalo and giraffes, don’t have canine teeth that are designed to rip through meat. Instead, they have flat, grinding teeth, much like that of humans, which are perfect for eating plants and vegetables. What’s more, our saliva contains a specific enzyme that has the sole purpose of digesting complex carbohydrates found in plant foods. This enzyme is not found in the saliva of carnivores. Interesting, isn’t it? We’re just not designed to eat meat.

QuestNet’s Product Training Team Visits Congo
QuestNet is committed to helping improve people’s lives all over the world through opportunities to become financially independent. This improves not only the lives and living standards of our IRs but also of their families and children.

Many countries in the world have high development potential, with people who are determined to take advantage of an opportunity to better their lives. Recently, QuestNet’s Head of Product Training, Mr Juergen Michel, along with VC Shivan Nair from The V, took a trip to the Republic of Congo to meet with VIPs, government officials, and IRs to present to them what QuestNet is, how the company’s products can develop one’s ability to improve one’s life, and to understand the specific needs, requests, and requirements from our IRs.

The event in the country’s capital of Brazzaville attracted more than a hundred of Congo’s dignitaries, as well as receiving major spotlights from the media, with three television stations, two leading newspapers, and three radio stations joined the event.

QIMM Honoured by Visit of Malaysia’s PM and F1 CEO
Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia – It was indeed a wonderful day for the Executive Chairman of QI Group, YBhg. Dato’ Vijay Eswaran was at the Meritus pit when the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak, and the President and CEO of Formula One Management, Bernie Ecclestone, paid a visit to the best Asian team in GP2 Asia 2010, which ended about three weeks ago.
During the visit, co-founder of Team Meritus, Firhat Dato’ Mokhzani, presented Luca Filippi’s winning trophy and a replica of the GP2 car used by Team Malaysia QI-MeritusMahara.com to the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Dato’ Vijay Eswaran presented a token of appreciation to Bernie Ecclestone for the F1 Supremo’s support towards the team in previous championships.

Also present during the visit were Sepang International Circuit Chairman, Datuk Mokhzani bin Tun Mahathir; Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek; Managing Director of QuestNet, Mr JR Mayer; Managing Director of The V, Mr Pathman Senathirajah; and QI Group Director of Investment Management, Mr Kuna Senathirajah.


QuestNet Goal of the Month #1: Results and Announcement of Winners
February’s amazing Goal of the Month was Goal No. 4, scored by Yasser Al Qahtani from Al Hilal (KSA) during the 3-0 victory of his team over Al Sadd (QAT), on 24 February 2010.
The QuestNet judges had a tough time deciding on the winners, but three answers stood out when it came to choosing the best explanation of which QuestNet product/s interest you the most and why.


The 1st prize winner, receiving a Bernhard H. Mayer Force Ultimate Watch, is Ms Nagammal Perisswamy, who submitted the following answer:

"The Chi Energy pendant attracts me most because it keeps me energetic the whole day.
